LuReen D. Brock

Researcher

One of LuReen D. Brock’s earliest memories is looking at huge pedigree charts on the kitchen walls in her family home and feeling sad that not everyone had parents listed.  When LuReen was only 10 years old, she began assisting her mother as they searched for ancestors at The Genealogical Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  After demonstrating high scholastic abilities at Brigham Young University, she was employed in the mining industry for 14 years where she used her exceptional clerical and office management skills.  These abilities have proved to be great assets in her family history research activities since accuracy and attention to detail are paramount to successful research.

LuReen is a perfectionist and focuses on each research project as if it were her own.  She is persistent, logical, and thorough—all qualities that have brought her great success in her research projects.  LuReen is skilled in using the Internet for online research and has experience with numerous other sources including church, civil registration, census, land, probate, tax, burgh, immigration and emigration, cemetery, military, and voting records as well as newspapers, maps, city and professional directories, local histories etc. to extend pedigrees.

During the last 14 years, she has spent thousands of hours at the Family History Library, in classroom instruction, and on research trips in Scotland and the United States.  She has also served for the past 10 years assisting patrons at a Family History Center.
