Heinz K. Hoeke

Researcher

 

Born in Dresden, Germany, Heinz learned the printing trade as a young man.  He graduated as a full-fledged printer in 1947.  Heinz resided in former East Germany until 1953, and four years in West Germany.  He applied for emigration to the United States in 1956; received visa the same year and emigrated with wife and one child to the United States in March of 1957.  He received U.S. citizenship in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1962.  Heinz worked as printer and linotype operator in large and small printing establishments and publishing houses in Freiberg, Dresden and Frankfurt, Germany, and in Minnesota and California until retirement in 1993. 

Heinz became interested in genealogy and began German research for clients in 1988.  He enjoys German-English and English-German translations of legal documents and books of historical and family-historical interest.  One of his translations was added to the Family History Library collection in Salt Lake City in 2006 by a satisfied client.  He hasave conducted professional genealogical research for various clients in Canada, Australia, Germany, and the U.S., including heir searches for a San Francisco firm. 

Heinz's field of research is Germany, including the former eastern provinces of Germany and German-speaking Switzerland.
